Hi Everyone
I picked up a pair of very solid but dented CB160 mufflers at the Corvallis Vintage Motorcycle Swapmeet this morning. I was wondering if anyone has ever split these at the seam to knock the dents out of them? I'm pretty sure I can mig weld them back up.
muffler resto question

IN my opinion is all about the chrome. I think the proper shinny bits set off the bike.
If re-chroming you might want better cores (I'd ask the shop you use).
I'd rather drill the dent and use a puller and then mig up the hole.
On the other hand I have seen decent looking VHT spray jobs over roughed up (sanded) chrome. You could use a metal filler as a "bondo" and then spray.
If going to a black coating you can do the same. IF trying to get the stock look there are a couple of aftermarket muffs that look ok to good for less than a chrome job.
