Well, this is my 1st post after acquiring a 1961 Honda C95 Benly. However I noticed a ver significant amount of oil leaking from the bottom of the motor. I am trying to find out what my options are to repair the leak, as I believe it's got a small crack.... Thoughts???

Welcome MB! Well you need to find out exactly where the oil is coming first of all. If it's coming from a kickstarter shaft seal or a shifter seal or something then you're in luck. All you have to do it pop out the old seal and put in a new one. But if your case is cracked then that's a huge problem.

Get some Brakleen or Brake Component cleaner and wash then spray the engine from top to bottom first. Then run the engine to see where your oil is coming from. The oil typically gets past the old hard seals and they need to be replaced. To speed up the process of finding the oil you clean everything really good and then throw baking soda or fine dirt at the engine so that when any oil leaks out you can see it easier. I doubt the main gasket that is between the main cases is leaking. There are also breather vents that could be leaking oil but you really want to look at all your seals first. And make sure that your oil level is correct so oil isn't being forced out of the engine (if there is too much oil).

Looks like the leak is in a small crack near the oil drain plug.... Any ideas on a fix? Is this Peice replaceable, or weldable?

Whew..a crack.

You can have the crack welded by a pro. But you will need to remove the bottom case of the engine to do it. You choice, once the bottom case is removed is to find a used bottom case and just replace it. I know from experience that bottom engine halves are interchangable for years 64 & 65.

The cool part is that the bottom engine case can be removed without taking the whole motor apart. Yep! Just drain the oil (and be prepared for a mess) remove the side covers and clutch/oil pump assembly, looses the case bolts and lift the bottom case up.

OR

Try some JB Weld on the cleanest surface you can make. This will at least slow the leak down.
