Clutch Lifter Rod

Hey everyone. Everything has been going 100% with my ca95 build until today. The engine is clean and has new oil, but my clutch seems to be stuck. I saw the clutch lifter rod, and noticed it was bent. It looks a lot like the rod in smithers post listed below. I really don't want to pull the whole engine apart to replace this one rod (If I have to, I will). I have worked on mopeds for years and this is my first 4 stroke project. Any hints, tips,or ideas to put a new rod in there without cracking the engine cases, or am I doomed? Thanks everyone!

You don't have to crack the case, just get some good lock pliers for a good grip slowly give it little in out slides then slowly pull it out, grease up the new one on the inner edge of gasket and the rod and slide that sucker in. lol reminds me of a funny story, I had a Yamaha enduro and was doing a lot of doughnuts, I went to straighten out and shift and i heard a loud clunk then something drop, I looked down and there lay my shift rod in the dirt with a slight bend, I picked it up gave it a drag across my pants and shoved it back in the hole bend first of all things and hammered it back in and it never came out again (thanks to the bend I assume) and it shifted fine then on out as if nothing ever happened :p

Awesome! Thanks for the info. What if I need to swap out a new gasket for it as well? Can I just squeeze a new one in there? Thanks again.

Yes the seal press fits in. Make sure the area is pristine clean and use the back of a deep well socket to tap it in. It would be good to get a replacement push rod.

This should help. :) Here are some pictures showing everything all nice and clean. You can pull that rod right out and replace it with a new one easily. Just make sure you clean everything up so you don't get any dirt inside the seals. Put a light coat of grease on it to when you put one back in there. This is a really common problem caused by a thrown chain or crash on that side. Easy fix.
