Carb idle air mixture question >>>

Post by 1911tex »

The manual states...screw in > Rich; out> lean.
I screwed it in rich until the engine lost a few rpm, then out 1/2 turn. Is this correct?

The other option would be to screw out lean until engine loses rpm, then in 1/2 turn or so.

Thoughts? Appreciate all!

Basically, I adjust idle to whatever I feel is a good idle. I turn out the screw until nearly stall and then screw in until I like the idle. I don't think there is a hard fast rule.

I'd agree with Spokes( who wouldn't). Heck my mixture screw is so loose the idle changes if it sits and vibrates too long.

Spokes: Thx again.

Larzfromarz: Wrap teflon thread sealant tape around the air screw; enough to tighten it up.
