Took my Benly for a ride this morning

Boy was I riding high in the saddle today as i took my Benly for a spin

Its been awhile since i took her down for an engine rebuild but it was worth the wait

It purrs and shifts smooth as silk!

All OEM NOS Honda parts as it should be as well as the clutch

My Benly is still months away from being put back together, but I did manage to get my '72 CB175 out for a spin this past weekend. Since this is northern Michigan, I never get to ride in February, but it's been so darned warm here that there's not much snow left. The roads were clear, and I kept the speed down since the cold tires aren't as grippy. Sure felt good.

There's still some ice along the shore line below, but normally the lake would be filled with ice fishermen.

Wow thats by far the BEST Honda color they came out with!

luv to see snow on the ground and thats SEE only

I was gonna paint my CA77 that color but had to sell it

I'm jealous of that bike right there. The 175 is one of the more desirable smaller Honda motorcycles in my opinion. Very very nice. I bet that is one smooth running engine.

I feel like I've hijacked wnbasac's thread, since the topic was taking a Benly for a spin. Sorry about that.

My CB175 is a blast to ride, but has the characteristic vibration typical of twins with 360-degree cranks. The vibration is not significant, but it's there. It has a smooth, mellow sound. It will be interesting to compare it to my CA95 when I get it put back together in a few months. My CA95 hasn't been started since 1983, but I'm projecting a May-June completion.

Ok heres a question for you guys

when i start my bike it like takes 15 min but when it starts its a 1 time push on the starter button and varoom its smooth all day

my ca77 started with out any throttle at all but this baby i just can't get the feel, throttle or no throttle?

is it because i let it sit for a few days before i start it or do you think its a carb thing?

I believe the Honda manual recommends holding the throttle open slightly when starting.

Myself, when mine has sat for over a week, I usually mostly close the choke, kick the bike over twice (without the electrics on), open the choke, hold the throttle, and start the bike (with the electrics on). Starts reliably every time. The first two strokes pull a bit of fuel in without stressing the battery.

Of course, I could be totally wrong in how I'm doing it...
