new guy benly questions
well i came accross a benly from my cousin and he gave it to me. its a 1963 and i determined it from the "vin" number, but i was wondering if anyone on here knew how to decode the vin from the frame so i determine what color it was origionally and ect. My frame number is CA9531303193, an dengine number is CA95E3101286 if anyone knows how to decode this i would appreciate it much Devin

Decoding appox year of your ca95
The Honda CA95 Benly Touring 150 (early model) was sold from 1959 to 1963.
It came in one of four colors: Black, Scarlet Red, Blue, or White.
The headlight was square with an integrated speedometer.
The fuel tank had small rubber knee pads and a large chrome panel.
It can be distinguished from the later model by a short rear fender brace. It also had an enclosed drive chain.
The taillight was small and this model came with blackwall tires and flat style mufflers.
The engine was an OHC parallel twin displacing 154cc with a single carburetor and the engine was linked to a 4-speed transmission. Unlike later twins, the cam chain came up the left side of the cylinders. The serial number began CA95-100001.

paint color
I would dig around in some obscure points. There is probably some of the original paint under the current paint that one could figure out the original color from. The scarlet color was quite orangey. I had an original back in the late 60's. Its not a scarlet that one would normally expect the white, and black were easy to recognize I have never seen a blue one to recognize the shade though. Curt
