new guy here. bought a ca95 a few days ago and will be picking it this comming Sat. The details on the bike are a bit sketchy. The guy I am buying it from has a dismantlers title on it but I will only get a bill of sale. It is listed as a 69 but only because he needed a date for the paper work. he has no idea of the year. I mentiond on the phone that the year is the first part of the serial # and where that is located. he says oh year so it is, then dosent tell my what the # is.
Hard to tell from the pics what the condition is as pics often look better than real life. the bad part is that all the unobtainium parts are all missing. I will be looking for both tank side plates, a petcock, a compleate exhaust system including the retaining rings, the trim covers that fit on each side of the carb/airfilter, and a chainguard. some of the easier to find parts that are missing are the tail light lens and the case cover for the front sprocket, and both side covers.
I am sure there will be other things missing as well as some other problems. I am planning on buildng it back into a runner and then possibly restoring it.
I rode dirt bikes when I was a teenager in the 70's but I never on the street until this past October when I bought a pair of ct90's. I do have one question about riding a ca95, perhaps Smithers can tell me if I will be able to make it from Atascadero to Morro bay.
New guy intro
Hehe that's a tall order for the CA95!! Glad to see you here blue. Those hills might as well be brick walls in front of the little Benly.
You CAN do it but you'll be holding up traffic or riding in the bike lane with the look of fear in your mirrors. I garauntee you will have to drop down to 2nd gear while going up a couple of those long grades on the hwy 41. When I was a teenager I snuck out in the middle of the night on a trail 55 Honda and rode to Morro Bay with some friends on 50's and 70's in the middle of the night once. But that was when there weren't people driving on those roads to bother us. Now with population growth there are too many cars that we would get in the way of even in the middle of the night. Anyhow... I wouldn't recommend any trips over the heavily travelled mountain pass unless you swapped in a CA160 engine.
How much did you put down on the CA95 may I ask? I can help you with the paperwork.
I'm an expert at registering non-title bikes in this local DMV area. It's easy as long as you know the tricks. I can point you in the direction of an awesome powdercoating company and auto body paint shop that can lay down some great paint as well: all friends of mine I see every week.

I paid $250, not sure where that falls on the price spectrum for these things and I suppose until I do a full inventory of the parts I will need I won't really know how good/bad of a deal I got.
I just got back from picking up the bike and will take some pics and post them tomorrow. I did find out that it is a 1964.

pic of bike
Here is a pic of the biks still siting on the trailer.

to my eye the headlight surround is the only original paint. The tank is notceably off in color and the inside of the tank has been treated with something. (I am not very knowlegable about bikes so I dont know what kreem or any of the other products look like.) the color on the forks, fender, frame, is very close to the color of the headlight surround and is only noticably different in gloss. there are a few nics and scratches besides the noticable pach of missing paint, not too bad for a rider though if I can touch up the bare metal.
It looks like the bent up lower front fender was done after it was repainted.
It will be a tricky one to straighten due to a bit of a crease but there is solid metal there to deal with and as I understand it that is half the battle in that particular spot.
As you can see there is no petcock on the tank. The interesting thing is that there is no hole for one to mount in. It dosen't look like it has been filled or if it was it was done with a higher level of skill than that used in laying down the paint. The tank is mounted using the stock mounting locations. so is this an original tank for a 64?
Anything else stick out about this bike?

Very nice find for sure! What I see is:
No Kickstand Spring
You need an Engine Sprocket Cover, which also seves as a clutch cable mount.
No tool Tray & Air Filter Mount
No Exaust System
The rear tire is oversize Stock is 3.00 x 16. I have used 3.50 x 16 which is what I think you have.
The front tire looks interesting. I would like to know the make and size.
No Air Filter. You can use an aftermarket type.
No enclosed chain guard (don't need it, but it adds to the appearence of the bike.
The wiring needs to be tucked in the frame
The tank looks correct and it needs the chrome side panels
There has to be port someplace on the bottom of the tank for fuel. I guess it could of been welded shut with the idea of drilling a new hole for a bung (Guess)
Nice rear rack.
Again a great find. It looks nice and clean. An automotive paint supplier should have a close color to touch up the bare spot.

the front tire is a donlop K630F 100/80/16.
The wireing will need more than being shoved back inside the frame. There is a 'mystery' switch above the battery and I noticed several splices, some with the same color wire and some with a color change.
I have been looking for a vew of the missing parts on ebay just to get a feel for price ranges and could not find a tail light lens. Tonight I finayl took a close look at the housing and noticed it has Suzuki stamped on it. It looks like it is from a similar vintage Suzuki and is similar to what is on my CT90 KO but has a round bulge on the top and bottom.
I used a magnet to check the tank to see if the hole for the petcock has been glassed over and it is all metal. I think the only way I will be abe to tell if it hs been wellded is to sand the paint off. As it is now the only holes on the bottom of the tank are the two at the front. I am wondering if someone was planning on conecting the two sides and then running a 'T' off that with an inline petcock.
