Copper exhaust gaskets.

Not very good pics with my phone but I think you will get the idea.

The sealing material is the pink stuff sandwiched between two hoops of corrugated metal.
The pink material stands proud of the metal hoops and is a slightly soft material.
If the pink stuff crushes a lot, the metal hoops should crush concertina style spreading inward and outwards.
I'll let you know my findings when fitted.

Interesting information Sam, thanks. I didn't realize how complex an exhaust gasket could be. I just assumed it was something that started thicker and ended up thinner, getting squished a bit.

I disagree about your photos - the way you composed the gaskets to stand on or lean on one another is pure art, suitable for framing.

Hey People,

I've just tried to get a hold of a couple of the Ducati copper exhaust gaskets, and he only has one left!....and doesn't know if he can get any more....

Has anybody found another replacement ?

Don't know if it will help but I use exhaust gaskets from a 1986 K100 BMW .
Why , because I had some laying around . Their a bit larger than the ca95's exhaust port so I used my cutoff wheel and made a 45 degree cut, I think I may have removed 3/16" and pushed them into the exhaust port . These are a soft copper gasket not a composite gasket like Sam was using .
They seal well and unlike the valve packing gaskets they stay in place while fitting the exhaust . I've done this to 2 of my CA95's .

might be easily obtained elsewhere?....M30 or 7/8 BSP crushable hydraulic sealing washer, 30.4mm ID/36.3mm OD/1.8mm thick.
