Timing question

Post by edcphoto »

Using a timing light with the engine idling and looking thru the timing window should the stationary mark on the stator (?) line up with the red line "F". There is also a "T", what is that mark for?

Thanks,

Ed

From page 126 of the Service Manual:

Here's a zip file of all 3 CA95 manuals ... you can download them here:

http://www.forths.com/honda/CA95Manuals.zip

This includes the service manual, parts manual and owner's manual.

Ed, further to what Kevin posted, the answer is yes. The T mark is for top dead center, this is where you set your tappets.
On tick over, the F mark should line up with the pointer mark on the stator when using a strobe light. Providing that your auto advance unit is working as it should, as you rev the motor, the line on the stator should line up between the other two lines on the rotor.

Sam. :)
