Thanks for the information.

Just thought you guys would like to know, at least so far, it looks like the tachy leak has been fixed!

I took off the cover, cleaned both mating surfaces, then cut just a little notch where the holes meet, and it seems to have fixed it! Man! All this time it was due to ...

Rear wheel washer tongue stud broken off

Getting my CA95 ready to be winterized, and while I was cleaning it I noticed that on the rear wheel sprocket, there are 3 studs that hold washer tongues in place with a nut.

Surprising to me, one of the studs looks like it broke off on the end, the nut is gone, and the washer tongue on that ...

Ok short update, I got it running again. Makes no sense to me. I rotated that thumb-size lobed piece on top of the magneto 180 degrees, of course no starting and tried backfiring on me.

Rotated back again 180 degrees, rotated flywheel to F line and used my digital multimeter continuity tester to ...

Thanks Sam, as I did more foraging among the forum posts I started getting the impression to line up with the F line.

One post I saw said I needed to have the ignition switch turned on to do the test, and alas, it overloaded my light up pen and blew out the bulb. So I've been trying to use my ...

Sorry more ramblings, but for those wondering, it was running pretty good all summer, except when it got colder it would behave this way. And I've also had the valve timing done at a professional shop.

Oh I also am using a light-up pen continuity tester to do the timing, and I have no clue if I set the timing on the points when the pen lights up or when the pen lights off?

Starting concerns

Hey everyone, so I'm getting mixed messages in how to adjust the ignition timing. Manual says line up F with red line J. On the forum I've found posts saying they lined up with T to the J.

In reality there is the T, then a line, a space, a line, and then F, so where to start adjusting the ignition ...

I'd like to insert images, I just can never figure out how to attach it to a URL off my desktop. I suppose that's something I can google.

I remember cleaning out that hole on the engine itself, but never thought about it on the gasket itself. I'm kind of excited to try it this weekend.

CA95 name?

I'm sure this is an easy question, but I've had kids at motorbike shops tell me I'm wrong saying it's a 95 when it is 150cc?

So should it be the Honda CA150? I dunno, I just know my bike is a '63 Honda CA95 and have no comment why there's no 150 in the name to designate 150cc. All my other bikes ...

Decided to comment on this post, not sure how accurate my speedometer is. I mean it seems to read fine, but if I'm not careful on the throttle - it is super easy to suddenly go from 33-34 mph to 40mph. I try keeping up with traffic, but traffic may be going faster than the speed limit so I'm not ...

I think I may have a clue as to why my kickstand is so odd - some PO dropped the bike seriously hard on the right side once upon a time (don't know the story, just seen the evidence), and the right footpeg is pushed up a little ways. I tried using a table vice to bend it back, but those footpegs are ...

Good point Larzfrommarz, I always appreciate learning more. So condensors can't cause your electrolyte level to go low or cause corrosion build up on the battery terminals so quickly (my new battery is only like 4-5 months old), corrosion that fast? I have put some anti-corrosion spray on the ...

RH cylinder tachometer cover leak

So just getting peoples' opinions on this. My '63 Honda CA95 has the tachometer-type RH cylinder cover. Nothing in there, just the cover and the screws holding it in.

For some unknown reason, when I reassembled the engine, it had a constant leak from the bottom-most corner that would run along the ...

Chronic leak no more! Vegekev you're awesome thank you, I rode and rode for hours today and no oil leak from the left side cover. I'm pretty sure that sealing plug fixed it, just in time for winter! :p
