So, I played with the valve gaps yesterday. When I reduced them to 0, the clacking sound disappeared at idle but was still there at acceleration.
Even when turning the engine by hand slowly, I could hear a 'toc" sound each time the cam was pushing on the intake valves.
Short of replacing the rockers ...

They are all per specs at the 0.03mm...

Yes, it is more like a loud ping I would say. I have tried the stethoscope and it was difficult to figure out where the noise was. Just listening to it around the bike seems to point at the #2 cylinder.

I have a restored red 1/2 chain guard if you want. Can't remember if it's the upper or lower half though. I can check and send it to you for just the shipping cost.

Yes I got the washers for the springs out of the head and I can see how they would have to fit over the flanges of these guides...

There are some on eBay for inlet and exhaust valves but they look different as they have a flange instead of the clip.... Are they correct or a good replacement?
