I went through the exact same mess with mine, previous owner hooked up 12v battery etc... I had to replace the condensor and coil. I also had to replace EVERY bulb on the bike because they were all blown. I also had to replace the signal stat. Just a heads up...All your bulbs have to be good in ...

I know what you mean about the bulbs, i couldn't get my blinkers to flash until i replaced the indicator bulb in the speedo. One faulty bulb in the link screws up the whole operation. Reminds me of the old christmas light's, where one bulb would burnout and the whole ...

Only the 72 had the black heat shield and the angle was changed more upsweep than 69-71.

The header pipe is bad where it meets the muffler. Seems to be a common spot for problems.

Any luck with your rewiring job?

I was also lucky enough to get an oem wiring harness. Made my life much simpler, everthing is working now! wooohoo!

I installed a new (oem) wiring harness, New coil & condenser, signal stat. I painstakingly went through every wire replacing, cleaning connections & grounds.

I tested the bulbs and most worked. I have a new battery and the bike start's and runs fine. The horn works and the brake light will work if i pull the front brake. None of the running lights or turn signals work. I tried cleaning up all the connections and grounds with no ...

I acquired a 72, runs and the horn works, but none of the lights work.

The previous owner tried messing with the wireing, but must have given up. So i'm going to rewire it myself. Wish me luck!

Very well done! I will be rewireing mine as well, so this will come in very handy.
