Holy Moly there is action on the CA95 Forum!!! Its only been years since the last post and here I thought it was all over. I've only been into the clutches once and that was years ago, but I'd check to make sure you've got the correct number of discs and plates and the their thicknesses are correct ...

The tubes that come out of the head ventilate the intake valve guides to the atmosphere in order to break any vacuum that may exist in them and thus prevent oil from being sucked down into the combustion chamber

The 150's and 305's engine have the same setup.

Nice find!

Just when I thought my favorite forum had gone dead Frappy comes to the rescue!

I've seen a couple of this model over the years but never had the chance to acquire one. The serial numbers certainly show it as a 1964 model, I had always thought these were only made in the early years ...

Tokyo Rose

Nice job! I used the inside of the battery cover for my color scan and ended up with a BMW color to which I had to add a bit of yellow.

Would you mind posting a few more pictures to help motivate us procrastinators?

The plating was done by D&D Plating in Cranston, RI. I've used them many times over the past 30 years and they've always done good work. You're looking at about $750 for those items pictured, and that doesn't include the mufflers that were done a couple of years ago or the NOS wheels I've been ...

New chrome and a small mystery

I just got my chrome back from the platers for Old Pink, #640. When I dropped it off, I tried to explain to them that the original chrome was not perfect and please don't over do the polishing, but they're perfectionists, and here's the results. I suppose some day when these bikes are more ...

Early CA95 headers

Frustrated with fitting header pipes to your early CA95? Even though the early Benly header pipes look the same, they are quite different, and they do have different part numbers. And maybe it's just my luck, but every used or NOS header for those models that I've bought over the years have always ...

Tokyo Rose early CA95

Having closely followed Michaelclark50's excellent restoration thread of an early Tokyo Rose colored 1960 CA95 I thought this would be a good time to start a new thread devoted to those mysterious early Hondas.

The mystery is a result of the color not being mentioned in any of the official Honda ...

Neither of my 1960 Toyko Rose CA95s have the fender packing you pictured. I've successfully taken apart and cleaned a few of the early horns…a few squirts of carb cleaner and a little movement of the adjustment screw got them in working order.

In regards to the color, the October 1960 issue of ...

A couple of times my hard starting problems were caused by a plugged low speed idle jet and the symptoms were the same as yours. Remove the carb, take out the jet and check that both its barrel and the 3 cross drilled holes are clear. These passages are very small and plug up easily. I clear them ...

In his book on Honda Dream and Super Hawk restoration Bill Silver writes about problems with the iron "skull" that is pressed into the aluminum head and forms the top of the combustion chamber and contains the valve seats and spark plug hole.. He mentions that if it loosens it can lead to excessive ...

I give my Benlys a good spray w WD40 before putting them away in the fall. That will protect the aluminum and chrome, and also protect the paint. The WD40 evaporates over the winter, and then I clean and wax the paint and chrome in the spring, and everything is ready for another season of riding.

I've successfully used small teflon packing meant for plumbing use as a header-muffler gasket. Its readily available at your local hardware store or plumbing supply. I wrapped a few turns around the header pipe and pushed it into place with a screwdriver about 5000 mikes ago with no problems since.

I've had my share of non firing issues over the years and now use the following technique to trouble shoot them. This procedure only applies to engines w a wasted spark, i.e., those with one set of points and one coil and two cylinders like the CA95 in which both plugs fire at the same time, one of ...
